Ahhh, Paris…

View from my friend’s Dawn and Denise’s apartment in Paris…

I love, love to travel and to have new experiences – but not so thrilled about the packing – as a frequent traveler, I should be an efficient and minimalist packer.  It certainly would be more impressive to say “I just bring my carry-on and a few accessories and I am set for two weeks”, Ick – Rubbish!

I start with accessories and build my wardrobe from there…

Bags, jewelry, scarves & belts

I do envy those girls, (are they human?) that can travel with a few items and voila; they look fabulous at every turn.  On the contrary, I am in the “be ready for anything” camp; I might even be the camp counselor…

Cuffs & bracelet’s – I love this cute little circle zip for storage…

Speaking of camp – now that I think about it, this preparedness obsession started as a youngster, I spent my youth as Campfire Girl, (similar to Girl Scouts), but a little more ru-ru-rugged.  In keeping with the spirit of  “always be prepared” these camping experiences made me want to have all of my goodies with me at all times, just in case…

Necklaces, earrings & watches – leather folder keeps the necklaces from turning into sad macrame…

On a positive note, I can say with some confidence, over-packing has served me well, I take my favorite pieces that I adore and add a few more items that I am trying to work into my wardrobe.  I am far more likely to try a new look when traveling than at home.  Something about being away gives me a little more courage to experiment…

Bags for delicate’s, PJ’s & clutches

My friend Nancy, a very clever girl, starts by laying all of the contenders out on her bed and editing from there. She joined me in Paris and looked fabulous the entire trip, we both went for dark colors, navy, black and gray – easy and chic things – I like to call this color-way Eastern block or  my garb of woe…

 Nancy’s outfits

With all the bags ready and outfits chosen,  next on the list is preparing my amenities kit  for the long flight. We are set up to win, arriving in Paris refreshed and ready to tear up the city!

Nancy – clever and shy…
